That's not entirely true. Hard drive reliability is a factor. For
example, at my office, our Toshiba laptop hard drives die quite
frequently. I've heard bad things about Fujitsu's laptop HDD
reliability, too.
On the other hand, I have an IBM Travelstar that hasn't failed me once
in over two years of usage.
Another consideration is power; some laptop HDDs draw more power while
others are designed specifically for low-power applications.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience or data in this area.
